Hi! I'm literally making an entire capybara simulator game based off of the capybara model (and alpaca too) and I just wanna say thank you as it brought me into 3D modelling. I've modelled many more animals based off of the psx art style or the form/poly count used with these.
I am stressed that I can't make my own capybara model without completely redoing so many things and I'd prefer that I would've made my own, but, I'm putting this out here to confirm -- there's no problem if it's the entire inspiration for the game? 😠I've also made more capybaras by editing it as needed... But seriously, if you hadn't put this up, I would not have fell in love with psx/uv-mapping/blender. Dead serious
And if you know any good tutorials/tips/help on making models like these please let me know! I looked at the custom textures for the capybara but I just use unedited images straight from pexels lol
Thanks so much! You're more than welcome to use this model for any project you like as I have included a cc0 license with the model. Be sure to share the project with me when you have a demo ready because I would love to play your game. As for tutorials: YouTube is your friend! Try searching "Blender low poly 3D modelling" and you should find an endless amount of tutorials for free. As for texturing: you're gonna want to look into using Gimp and modifying textures to be 256x256 pixels with a splash of cubic interpolation when you scale down those pexels images. Hope this helps!
Hey there! I've loved your Alpaca since before I even started making 3D games, so now I've vowed to pop the fella in every 3D game I make and it's just got it's first appearance in my current project Liminaut! :D

I've given you a shout out in the patch notes but once I got a credits page working in the game I'm 100% crediting you even if this is CC0
Timbo this made my whole day! You’re more than welcome to use the lil alpaca for anything you’d like. I’m looking forward to trying Liminaut so I’ll be in touch on your page after that. That blue+green is so nice in the screenshot. Such a vivid, serene landscape == happy alpacas == happy alpaca modeller (me)
i WILL find a way to add this to my horror game that this isn't related to at all
I think that is a great idea! Go weird or go home 😎 make sure you post your game here if you do end up using them because I’d love to play your game
will do mate if i finish it 😂 my autistic ass can't focus on one project for too long most of the time or i forget lol
it might take a bit longer tho cuz i also started working on a pixel art ww2 tank game called bitkrieg and the horror game i can't find a name for yet
I had the exact same thought when I saw this! "It doesn't belong in my game but it's going in anyway"
You are a flipping champion
