Happy Holidays '24! The full-game is here!
V1.4 UPDATES
The short of it? Laughingstock Apocalypse is finally complete. The demo finished with a petty cliffhanger - right before you follow Ajax Floodlamp and Maldoror into the Vale of the Dead - so the full game concludes your search for Niki Circle including visits to all new locations.
Special, special thank you to the Queer Games Bundle organizers, developers, and supporters. Without this vital effort this project would have remained in its dismal sandbox form from 2021. Three years later I have something to offer I can say I’m extremely proud of that would not be possible without the encouragement and funding myself and 400+ developers received via QGB2024.
Special shout-out to Jeris for saving me from the GitHub Desktop app shenanigans and helping me salvage an update to the game that I pushed incorrectly. Friendly perpetual reminder to ALL to use version control and push your updates regularly! This project wouldn’t have survived without VC (if u know u know).
Onwards to the gory details…
MAJOR GAMEPLAY UPDATES
- An additional 20-30 mins of gameplay
- A fully functional cheat code console (player control based cheats stack, disable cheat included)
- The game rewards exploration and “cheating”. Choose your path: different ways of completing quests, different ways of accessing new areas
- Pick which Archdemon should govern the dormant Coldheart Castle Keep
- A brief Mystery Archdemon boss battle (two methods of beating the Archdemon boss)
- Easter Eggs galore
QOL IMPROVEMENTS
- New crosshair
- New cursor - Ivan Voirol cursor pack from OpenGameArt
- New dialogue text boxes - Charles Gabriel 10 Basic Message Boxes pack from OpenGameArt
- Crosshair disappears when in dialogue
- 5+ new tracks of original music (add link to OST)
- Pressing “ESC” while in dialogue no longer opens the Pause Menu. All input is disabled during dialogue (excluding input keys that advance the dialogue)
- MASTER VOLUME AND ALL AUDIO BUSES WORKING: master volume, independent music, ambience, and sfx volume found in SETTINGS popup
- Bloom toggle is working properly
- Added walking and landing (from jump) sfx
- Main Menu button included in Pause Menu
- That crusty STR check the Voyager offers has been replaced. When in doubt, take the lazy speech check out. There is a new useful reward for those that choose to INTIMIDATE the Voyager.
- Updated the cursor - Ivan Voirol cursor pack from OpenGameArt
